The Detail: Designing with Black
Basic color theory dictates that colors can make you feel a certain way. Black is associated with elegance, formality and prestige; it also exudes a calmness, and it provides depth unlike any other color.
Stephen Crafti, author of Designing with Black: Architecture & Interiors, has assembled a collection of 34 projects featuring black, each with six dedicated pages. Released June 2013, Crafti's book uses black to quietly bring separate elements together.
Our latest use of black in CBS Radio's elevator lobby is a great example; the black Cambria quartz—usually used as countertop material—is classy and helps the interesting tile patterns pop even more. Take a look at Crafti's book for more ways to use black in a home or office setting.
