Project transformed a grimy garage to a beautiful kitchen
A remodeling project known as garage transformation by The Foundation Architects was featured in the August/September 2009 issue of Remodel magazine. The article titled “Newfound Grace” by Jodi Garlock revealed the story of how a grimy garage became a beautiful kitchen.
According to the article, “Remodeling projects take vision, and architect Bob Shaffer stretched his to superhero level in a 1920s Tudor-style house near Minneapolis.”
Shaffer agreed that it stretched the imagination. In the article he stated, “When I first brought it up, the homeowners were pretty mortified. I had to convince [the homeowners] to keep an open mind—that we could make it look like there was never a garage here and that the kitchen would match the house completely.”
The finished result includes a built-in desk, a mahogany island, jewel windows a butler’s pantry and more. Check out pictures, a before and after floor plan and read the article.
