News Review

Five stories you need to know:

1. The University of Chicago is building a $148-million residence hall in part to convince students to move back onto campus. How would you like this campus building as your dorm? (pictured above)

2. The Contemporist posted a photo of a Japanese forest path elevated above the leaves, designed by Tetsuo Kondo Architects. Instead of tearing up the natural surface, the designers have anchored the floating path to tree trunks.

3. Lisbon-based designers ARX Portugal created an addition to a high school using intentionally crooked columns that are visually stunning and safe.

4. PSFK's Piers Fawkes dreams of what homes will look like in the future. He predicts something similar today, with the biggest changes predicted as combined appliances, on-demand deliveries and increased balance through relaxation. Oh, and your vital signs might be checked by your bathroom mirror.

5. Clare Lyster takes an extensive look at ways airports can go green—from the runways to the terminals. The latter part of her piece explains her firm's incredible proposal for Chicago's O'Hare Airport, a sight to behold in itself.
